Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using By Heart, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. What By Heart is

By Heart is a private, single-player app for one person to build a habit of paying attention to their partner. It is not a couples app: your partner does not create an account, sign in, or see anything inside the app. By Heart is not therapy, counseling, or a substitute for professional mental-health care, and it does not diagnose or treat any condition.

3. Your account

You must be at least 18 years old to use By Heart. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of what you enter in the app — notes about your partner, check-ins, and anything else in your vault. Most of this content is stored locally on your device, as described in the Privacy Policy; we do not access it in the ordinary course of operating the app.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the app, including attempting to access another user's account, reverse-engineering the service, or using it for any unlawful purpose.

6. Subscriptions and billing

By Heart does not currently offer paid subscriptions or in-app purchases. If paid features are introduced, these terms will be updated to describe billing, renewal, and cancellation before they go live.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time from the Account screen.

8. Disclaimer

By Heart is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Because most of your data is stored only on your device, we are not able to recover it if your device is lost, damaged, or the app is uninstalled without first deleting your account or exporting your data.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
